I like IT. People tend not to judge you based upon personality defects, gender (though it does tend to be a bit of a boys' club), race, or anything like that...it's a very "equalizing" profession. If you can code, if you can set up a box, you'll be respected, regardless of your circumstances. Hours tend to be more flexible, and bosses tend to be more understanding.
You really have to enjoy it to do it, however.
