Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Ive seen councelloers, physcietrists, taken meds, exercised, read 100 of self help books, tryed to improve myself, jumped 15000 feet out of an aeroplane for a skydive, told people close to me, changed my diet, studied for exams, changed jobs, been to other countries, been in different relationships (not through choice did i keep changing those) been to the drs lots and lots of time, written my goals down, listened to relaxing music, visualised things being better, changed how i breathe, went to a shyness clinic, opened up to my mum (my only close family left who i live with and is very ill) set tasks to do for the day, and after all this i still feel like shit but i guess after reading all that ive done i feel abit proud of myself for fighting this illness in this way just hate feeling this lonely and depressed!
Hun...it's great to have goals and dreams..its another when they start controlling ya ever move! I hope I am not being too harsh...its just that ya so young and so unhappy..Ya spend so much time being da man...and ya still need to kick back and RELAX...SOAK UP THE SUN..ENJOY GOOD COMPANY.....SPEND TIME WITH YA MOM...DO IT IN MODERATION!!! Stope trying to save the day....IN A DAY!!!!! Tackle one thing a day..and then another...other days..I am not saying quit ya job....just when ya off work...let loose a little! Hope ya get my drift hun! Hugs! years!
YEAH!! It just paid off. That is the idea, .. validate yourself. It takes more for some people than others, .. and no one can say you don't make an effort. You may feel 'bad' in spite of your efforts, .. it is all relative. There are depressed people who do NOTHING but sit on a sofa under a blanket. What you do is essential to MINIMIZE the effects of depression. You are a success story.
Does it cure depression? I can't say that, but it sure is better than hiding in a dark room alone. I know of nothing other than medication, counseling, electroshock therapy, lobotomy, hypnosis and/or EFFORT as things to cure/control/manage/minimize depression and credit goes to those who use these things to their advantage, .. and you deserve a lot of credit because you 'fight' the battle.
I am sorry you have not (yet) accomplished perpetual bliss and still have 'down' periods. Thing is, there is no such thing as perpetual bliss. I would say you are doing 'great' and I hope you continue your outstanding efforts to defeat the monster. Good luck to you.
If you continually tell yourself you are week -- then you are
but
if you continually tell yourself "I can do this -I have the strength " then you will have it.
self talk is one of the most powerful tools we can have,
and remember don't run yourself down and don't listen to people who want to do it for you.
Blessings
Do more things that make you happy.
I keep that one in mind and it does seem to help me make better decisions that are more likely to lead to happiness.
