Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
It is very normal to be angry and think that you should have done something, that you could have done something. But that is not true.
And now you pay the price for his crime. But as time passes your niece will learn to focus her anger on him, and she will learn to trust you once more.
But it will take time.
Lots of time.
Vent as you need; people who know you will understand. Like the saying: those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter!
Do what is right for you, but keep you safe!
none of this is your fault! You are hurting. and yes, posts about child abuse are going to trigger you. Posts about suicide trigger me. I think there are alot of posts about different things that trigger members here. That is why I don't reply on posts about suicide. It's not that I don't care or have compassion or empathy, I just can't comment. What has happened in yoru family, just happened recently.. very recently. You are angry. You are hurting . there are so many facets to what all has happened.
If you need to take a break, then okay. I think the best thing is for you to just try to avoid posts that trigger you right now. You are such a kind soul.... and I know that the person you apologized to ( on here ) won't be upset at you.. She is hurting too and understandably so. She isn't going to hold anything against you.
Listen to Pepperman . he's a smart man.
Please stop beating yourself up. you know I luv u.
HUGS... HUGE HUGE .. xoxo
Me.
Your ex MIL is probably one who uses dogma as a means of control. Don't, under any circumstances give into that guilt.
Secondly, this instance was ONE instance. You apologized. Just hink of what parents used to od to their children. My husband, who is 43, was whipped as a child with a belt. Back then, see,the use of a belt was not consdered abuse. So, compared to this, what you did was not hardly anything. You made one small mistake.
I have read this and I understand it more now. All I can say is that you cannot control what others think.
As a grown up, I cannot go back and get the reassurances that I did as a child. When something hurtful happens, I have to just "sit there" and take it...regardless of the PTSD. It is as if society wants us to jut keep on and that whatever happens to us in childhood--well "tough." I hate that. So when something hurtful happens, all that we can say as adults is that we have to move on.
BUT I do know how you feel and I am very sorry that this happened to you.
All I can say is that DS is a wonderful place and if you have to keep this as a place of reguge then do so.
I've decided, and I know that this is mean, but normal people are idiots and I shut them out. I can't take their b.s. anymore.
Hugs to you,
CH
