Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Do you have others in your life that can help pick up some of the slack? Can you get a home health care aid for your parents? How about a baby sitter to give you a break from your friends kids?
Maybe until you can manage your stress better make it okay in your mind to say no to others. You can't be everything for everyone...but I so get that thought process. I have done it myself....gotta learn to set up boundaries and ask for help from others in your life when needed. Ask for what you need - no one can read your mind...and I have to remind myself that often as well.
As far as your friend who is far away...can you two skype? Skype is better than just chatting online or on the phone. At least you can see each other. Hang in there...take care.
Have you heard of the book Codependent No More by Melodie Beattie? Also, you can go to CoDa.org and read the patterns and characteristicsand see if you fit.Knowledge is power.
