Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
It's always very hurtful to feel alone when you have a special friend or significant other, I think. It's easier to be alone by yourself, than it is alone, and not have the caring you long for.
My husband had depression, and so did I. He stopped talking and I became more or less invisible to him in my own home. It wasn't very nice.
But if you think you believe you could take extra care those times when you both are struggling, to still be cognizant of the other person's hurting & feelings...I don't think it's impossible to have a successful relationship. But it would be hard, yes. It would take work and awareness for each other and endless amounts of understanding.
Yes.
But I think that at least one person needs to have a normal functioning mind. Two depressives in a relationship would probably be too destructive to the relationship. I don't see it surviving.
