Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I relate a lot to what you said. Sometimes family can be an amazing asset but at times family can really take it's toll on you. Especially when you are trying to do everything right but find yourself drained mentally and physically. I have depression and have been thru the ringer with it including the anxiety. My family is one hot mess that takes its toll on me everyday. My life is a mess and I find it very hard to concentrate on the things I need to because I am so overwhelmed. I also have chronic pain from numerous surgeries which doesn't help when the medicine you take makes you tired. Sometimes I say to myself I can't win the war inside of me, I'm so tired of fighting for everything in my life. If something in my life was easy I wouldn't even know what to do. I can't even bring myself to take my two wonderful dogs for a walk at night. This is something that they love and it gives me time to relax and be by myself. I have had people-family throw up in my face all of the mistakes I have made which is hurtful. I can't help I suffer from depression but it certainly doesn't help when you are put down for it, etc. I feel broken too and like I just don't care about things the way I used too. I know that my sister who came to live with me with her daughter has added a ton of stress on me. My sister and I don't see eye to eye on much which makes things very hard. She also can't drive-lost her license for life from too many DUI's. I am spending money on them on which I don't have. I barely eat and sleep due to the stress. The only good thing is that I started seeking therapy. I am married to a man that I am working up the courage to divorce. He isn't good for me and hasn't been for years. He is a great provider but has never been there for me in any other ways. He has damaged me beyond belief. My daughter who is 8 years old had also seen a lot of family fighting and knows that things haven't been right with my husband for years. I just hope everyday I will have the strength to get thru the tough changes I need to make. My sister living with me has never really worked a job and has had men support her for years ( which is really hard for me considering I have worked hard my entire life) I'm 42 years old and she is my fraternal twin. Anytime you want to talk please let me know. I could go on and on but what I'm saying is don't give up and I won't either!
I feel your pain. Do you go to therapy at all?? That might help
I'm here for you anytime :) Thanks Debbie
Is there a possibility of some sort of retreat like at a buddhist temple where you can get some peace and think this thru? You don't have to be buddhist for this but other religions may offer the same. Good luck and take care
