Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
if not, you should make one. Make a list of things you like to do about 20 activities long. That list is what you can go to when you have self harm thoughts.
an activitiy can be anything you normally like to do....
such as
watch tv
make a art project
listen to music
color, or paint
string some beads
go to thrift store
take a walk
write a poem
play a computer game
take pictures
make a card or write a letter to a friend
etc etc
now is a good time to focus your mind on an activity... your mind is too idle and needs some work to do to get your mind on self harm thoughts.
hugs.
Well, you're hyper-focusing on it. So that will make it happen. Hard to break unless you are willing to change your focus.
Have you thought about doing something just as radical but less physically injurous? Like taking off all your clothes and walking into the police station? Or...idunno...something else?
Maybe you could suck on some ice chips. My mom used to give me ice chips when I had the stomach flu. Can't hurt, can it? Worth a try, isn't it?
I go through the samething with my eating disorder. I've been bulimic since I was your age (i'm now 28) at this point it's off and on (every few months) but it usually happens when I start to feel depressed, when i"m depressed my friend "MIA" (buliMIA)is the only one who understands i'm not proud of it but that side of me is still a part of me so, I can some what understand where you are coming from. Be strong! it's not easy but you can do it.
