This last weeked my husband Tom, my son Josh, and I went down South to Brown County to stay at a cabin in a beautifully remote location. My wonderful Aunt Mary joined us and brought her two kayaks. We went out on the lake and it was great. Then the next day we went hiking on a rugged trail. I only went a little way since I knew it would be tough getting back. Tom and Josh went the entire 3 plus miles distance for two and a half hours.

For those who remember me talking about Josh, he had cancer last year for about six months. He fully recovered and also recovered from having his tonsils out a couple of months ago. He is now 18 and living life to the fullest. I can't tell you how thrilled I was that he did that entire hike, getting way ahead of his dad!

I just want to say for any of you still struggling with depression, if you can get out in the sunshime and just take in the amazing beauty and wonder of nature do it. If you can get away for a weekend that's even better but I also understand that money can be tight for people.

And if you can rent a kayak somewhere nearby where you live, do it. It's really easy and the kayak has a very low center of gravity so it doesn't tip easily like a canoe. Even if you are overweight like I am it's not hard.
