Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
But then you may say "But I will be just as sick if I don't do what everyone expects me to do. The y will be disappointed. They will worry. They will pester me with phone calls. They ..................."
I take so many meds ...........
Find out if those meds are counteracting against each other.
Assure them you are and will be SAFE. Tell them suicide is not in the picture (which I assume is the TRUTH) unless it IS in the picture.
You have to start managing your life .. meds working or not. You are not suicidal because you do not want to die. Suicide is NO SOLUTION and you know it. The SOLUTION is medical care and that includes feedback to your DOCTOR. Ask questions about your meds if you have any.
Recovery from a suicide attempt can take some time ... and holidays have heaped anxiety on top of that. Planning the trip was a mistake. People make mistakes all the time. Promise YOURSELF .. no more suicide ... it will never happen.
All this are steps to recovery ... and management of depression/anxiety. It is part of recovery .. knowing and doing what is best for you ... but do it gracefully where otherrs are concerned.
Get the pressure of the trip off your back ... then tell your doctor about motivational problems. Then TRY ..... hard .... to motivate. Meds and EFFORT ... recovery.
And .... you and I have a deal ... NO SUICIDE .... right???
Some people look at Thanksgiving as the starting gun for the Christmas season. It was like a starting gun was fired off at sunrise on the Friday after Thanksgiving when I was expected to start singing Christmas music, decorate the halls and all that.
Crap, I just wanted to finish experiencing Thanksgiving before starting Christmas.
Then I did not appreciate having to ramp up into hyper christmas mode so fast. Give me the time to warm up to it.
Sorry to make this about me, guess I'm trying to suggest looking into yourself to find what will make it good for you. Talk to your parents and let them know that you are really having trouble getting excited. They should know you really well, and perhaps they can help you do the holidays in a way that will minimize your feelings of being overwhelmed.
Gentle hugs

The purchase of airline tickets. Nobody died. The money is now gone. Whether you go on holiday or not, the money is already gone. If you go you don't get any money back. So it's a sunk cost, and not to be considered in the question of whether you go or not.
Your mum is probably missing you like you are missing your daughter, and will have an empty space in her heart when you are not there, the way you have with your daughter. You don't have to be happy with your mother. You don't have to be enthusiastic with your mother. You don't have to be excited with your mother.
If you show the real you, you can start letting some stuff out, and stop carrying it. Whenever you fakeify yourself I bet it costs you extra energy. I cannot even do it any more: I can't lie the tiniest bit.
If people ask how I am, and I don't want to say 'miserable and depressed' I say 'oh, not dead yet!' in a kind of cheerful way. Or else 'ticking along' or something. Find a way to not tell people a lie, while not having to tell the truth. Protect your soul. :D
And is there any way you can talk to your darling girl again? My heart bleeds just hearing that, but what goes around comes around, and they all come home to mum in the end. :)
Now off you go to mum's and sit on the couch and put your head on her shoulder and stay there for a week. :)
