Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

However, I learned that even though I'm a very kind-hearted person, I must set boundaries, because people can be very cruel. Because of my experiences I treat people with a long handled spoon. They can only get but so close.
Please don't allow bitterness to make you become someone that your not. Just approach people on a whole different level. Set boundaries. I wish you the best!
Years ago I learned a big lesson about friends when I went out of my way to help one of mine. The lesson is that the more you do for a person, the more they will expect, and the more they will take you for granted.
What I was attempting to do for my friend began as a favor. He'd asked me to work with him on an idea that could possibly benefit him. I agreed to do so, and put much effort into trying to make it happen for him. Unfortunately, what he asked me to work on was a very complicated matter and the more I looked into it, the more complicated the issue became. As time went by, my friend became resentful toward me. In the end, there was simply no way for me to make it work, and he turned angry. It was very painful for me to experience the deterioration of a very good friendship, and I began to feel as if I were a failure.
Eventually, though, I just got angry and was able to walk away because I realized that he'd gone from being very grateful for my just agreeing to try to help him, all the way to actually angry at me for not making what he wanted, happen, regardless of the effort I was putting out on his behalf. That wasn't fair to me. I decided if he couldn't take a step back and see that, then he was not someone I needed in my life, and I left the friendship behind.
Whether it's a huge favor that requires lots and lots of effort on your part, or it's the little things, like a ride to town here, a few dollars loaned out there, and so on, the truth is that there are folks who will begin to take you for granted BECAUSE of what you do for them, because they get used to it and start to see your help as an obligation rather than a kindness.
It's about boundaries. If you put your hand out there and a friend smacks it with a hammer, do you keep putting your hand out there expecting a different result, or do you stop putting your hand out there. Favors work the same way. Protect yourself.
I hope your situation improves.
