Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Teen depression is rampant. He AND Mom are the FIRST people that can help you. You are welcome here, but they are your FIRST source of help. After he has read it, tell him 'what we are trying is not working, Dad'
This is the BEST thing for you to do. Please do it.
I think you are stressing over the conflicting emotions so first try to relax. I have three kids, they're all different, as a parent, you want to help them fulfill their dreams. Please do not spend your whole life working to be what you think they want you to be.
First, hope for a calm moment and think about what you would like to accomplish. If you're not sure, think about helping people in some way.
If you want to help your parents, in a good moment, tell them you love them.
If you are depressed, yes, you should tell them. Please do not think you will not be something in life. I just read the Bridge Club, a wonderful book about by a woman about her mother and friends, a penetrating insightful book about women and relationships. The author's name is Betsy Lerner, and she wrote another book about her time in a state institution for problems she was confronting. So things can get better. Depression and anxiety is not entirely bad for I think it gave Lerner self examination and insight that other people do not have.
I don't think you dramatically change yourself, my mom gets emotional and so do I (we have the same physical makeup) while my dad can deal with many types of stresses. I just work on trying to understand myself.
I've been there with guilt, shameful thoughts...thinking that no one could help me. It took a panic attack that sent me to the ER to finally say...I'm weak, I need help, and I can't hold all this together.
You're not alone...millions of people in the U.S. are suffering just as you are, and it's not something you should feel guilty about.
Sending you healing thoughts.
Depression isn't a character trait like honesty, it's a medical condition.
If you'd sprained your ankle a year ago, and just recently sprained it again...you'd tell them...I hope??
I'm 30 now but once upon a time was 16 years old and felt just like you did! In fact, I still feel like I don't fit in anywhere. I feel like I'm my own person. The good thing about the adult world is that it becomes less about belonging in some kind of group like high school and more about paying bills. Don't get me wrong you're still going to come across some kind groups or clicks but belieeeeve be its nothing like high school
I really hope things turn put to be alright for you hun i really do.
