Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Ask yourself it all "those people" are just throwing cliches at you, or if they really know what they are talking about.
Yes, there are those who have managed their depression. The key word is "managed" We seldom cure it, but we can learn to manage it.
Are you getting therapy? That is a great place for us to formulate a plan to manage things.
Gentle hugs.
I'm in the middle of getting a therapist but I just feel really embarrassed and ashamed when trying to talk to them, I automatically feel like I'm being a huge burden to them even though it's their job to listen. I feel like a waste of time, so I never make much progress....
there are people in the maze who like it there. Stop here, they say. Stay with us. This is the total of your existence, this is the world, this is your life, stop here and relax with us.
deleting most of this: just read what you say above.
what you need to do is open up. You have to. This is your job. Feelings of embarrassment and shame are your own, you deal with them or don't but you still have a job to do here, and that's be honest with your counsellor.
you can feel like a burden all day long if you like, but it's an ego construct. it's not relevant to real life.
Real life requires you to get the job done in an efficient and practical way. So you need to talk to the counsellor, and say what you think and feel, and then let the counsellor do his/her actual job, which is of helping you unravel your issues.
It's really not okay to let yourself talk yourself out of telling the basics to the hired professional who is sworn to secrecy, and who is being paid to assist you.
Okay? so get it out there, get it dealt with, get it done. :) The first secret's the hardest. After that it gets easier.
It's hard work, requires brutal honesty - no soft soap - but it is no good to say it cannot be done. It can be done.
