Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
But is it? Is it the future you dream of? I highly doubt that. And I think if we sell out on our dreams, we've only ourselves to blame when we don't get them.
I think we've all here been suicidal. I certainly have. Two distinct periods of my life, where I have been absolutely, completely on the brink.
But I didn't. I wonder why not. I was in pain. I was in torment. I was suffering mental anguish and absolute despair. But I didn't top self.
I guess because if you can survive this moment, then you are winning. If you are alive right now, that is an achievement. That's winning, that is. That's not losing.
we go through fearsome bad times in our lives and I have to say, looking back, that I am proudest of myself for how I got through those times. Absolutely proud of myself. Nobody can take that away from me. Ever. I have an internal smugness that cannot be washed off by losing a job, or being rejected in love, or having my boss be mad or my kids bugger off.... There's nothing that can take from me the self-respect I earned, from myself, by myself, by going through hell and not shitting the bed, as we so delicately say in New Zealand.
you can take home a few perks from this event today yourself. You've been angry. GO YOU. You're angry, you're fighting. You just need to pick a better enemy. Don't beat yourself up. Go punch a punching bag. Go tell the people who are hurting you how you are feeling. you have the balls. You just don't have the direction.
You're like that blindfolded kid at the party, flinging that bat out into nowhere. Someone needs to turn you around and point you at the pinata and then you can get a result.
