Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I've been through 2 divorces and each time it has felt like the same exact deep pain in my chest...my heart almost literally breaking. But I did start to breathe again. And then smile again. And then laugh again and then start really living again.
And so I'm not just throwing platitudes at you, each time I started to see a therapist and took medication to help me reason and function a bit better through the pain.
Give the therapy more time to work. I've been seeing a new therapist for 6 months now and I only had my first major breakthrough 2 weeks ago. Sometimes the session is a non-starter and I walk away frustrated. But I keep going back so I can at least off-load.
Hugs and peace coming your way! -rw
I'm committed to letting time do its work. And one piece of advice I heard that was really smart was this: When you have a good moment, write it down. The depression can be so consuming that you think it's the only thing...but if you put it in writing that you had a moment or peace or a laugh or a nice afternoon, it's there waiting for you to remind you that things will get better.
