Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Probably when you figure out what you are angry about, and release it. Anger is very destructive and steals one's happiness.
Wandering Vet is correct that you need to find the root of the problem. It does steal your happiness and makes you add guilt on top of it. I use to get mad and say things that I did not mean and do things I did not mean to do and the guilt was alot of the time what kept me oeressed!! I wish you much luck. Have you tried journaling? I know even if I am the only one that ever reads it it feels good to get it out. Just write about it. Alot of the times I will write a 2 or more page letter and then after I read it and it is if though geting it off my chest is good I rip it up or shred it and throw it away. Big hugs:)
"i cnt wait til im 18"
Unfortunately, that is what you may have to do. 'Grin and bear it' for now, but make plans so you can get out of there as soon as possible. I am really sorry it is that way for you. It won't be forever.
I was going to suggest a journal, but if your dad is going to read it, then that's probably not a good idea. What about poetry or short stories? That's what I used when I was your age to work through a lot of my pain. Or songs/music, photography, painting? Can you take art or creative writing classes at school?
What I'm getting at is a coping mechanism called sublimation, where you take your anger and pain and use it to create something beautiful or useful.
Do you think some of your anger is because you feel powerless? Your family seems to be standing in the way of what you need and denying that there is a problem. Perhaps getting involved with interesting and meaningful activities in your school or neighborhood would help you stay busy and not so confined by your family.
What are your plans for after high school? Sometimes when we're stuck in a situation for the time being, it can help to focus on the future when we will have more freedom and power of our own.
i asked my dad if i can join drama club cuz i like acting and theater and he said no cuz hes not comfortable with me staying late after skool like past 4 30 wen the kids would stay til 10 s0metimes cuz of rehersal..im taking art class this yr at school i cant draw for my life but im trying now cuz i really wanna start putting a picture on paper wat im feeling.
i journal on here, he doesnt know i have ds
its hard staying after school for things cuz i would have to tell him in advance and i never know wen something wants to stay after cuz they change alot and so i would be able to go...its just too frustraing to stay after school...i asked if i can get a jb working at latchey at the middle school and he said no its for ppl who r going to be 9th and 10th graders wen hes been denying me since 8th grd for a job
and yess the anger does come from being powerless and them standing in my way, and not caring about what happened to me
the future keeps me going, i wanna go to college with my friend or some ther state, i wanna be a child psychologist, or school counselor, and i wanna get married and have lots of kids and be the parent i always wanted :)
do your parents know about the abuse?
could he be this controlling in a misguided attempt to keep you safe?
its not easy, no matter where yu are in the game of life
yur 16? Anger started destroying me at 14, and continued until I was in my late 30's.
Anger can destroy yu. Crush yur dreams, plans and hopes for a beautiful future. been there, done that. xx
yea they know abut the abuse , i told my counselor at skool this yr and she called them...my mom took me to my aunts huse after knowing wat happened and ASC and DYFS were called again, i got in soo much trouble, that was my fault....im waiting just waiting for my 18th bday but the only thing im scared of is being alone
welcome yur aloneness. it seems it took yur mom a while to realize it is OK to be alone instead of in a abusive situation.
don't end up yurself in the same situation.
