Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hi, I'm new here. Didn't know where else to turn. I feel horribly down and haven't been able to function all week and most of last. My therapist thinks I'm slipping into another depressive episode. I definitely am, all the while I am further unemployed and self-loathing. I can't summon the energy to look for jobs or make new friends and feel isolated and sad and frustrated at my life.
I've felt myself slowly sinking the last few weeks after a couple good months and it feels overwhelming. I can't tell if I feel so depressed because I'm so lonely or if it is the other way around. I wish I had people in my life who understood, but I either can't turn to the few friends I have or don't want my family to get upset with my emotions.
I guess I just needed to write this down somewhere, so that at least I know I still exist.

Good morning.81 and climbing this afternoon. Joanne I hope you and Mario had a lovely wedding anniversary! Sounds like a very worthwhile treat :-)There was just the 4 of us at ours at Bromley registry office. Yeah if there's a huge fire all crew at fire stations in the area and outside the area if needed will be called in to help. Doug and I bought a walking treadmill. I did 45 minutes...

I am also new to this forum but it's very existence is proof that you are not alone.
Hang in there, friend.
Many are on the same path as you, as you already know. So please feel free to add this site as a "courtesy stop" because there are friends here who understand whiplash.
I'm hoping that we may all mellow out together. At most, some of us are making an effort.
Love & hugs to you today, d_aria. :-)
I am new to this site also. My heart goes out to you. I know this is a tough time, but take it day by day....sometimes hour by hour. Whew... I know that feeling of no energy to look for new job, etc.
I just wanted to send you a big hug and tel you you get through this "hallway". Not sure if you are a praying person ,but stay in prayer. Push yourself to get up every day. It helps meeting if I get back in bed. Do something everyday no matter how small and talk to people.
I know this pain and I am only 2 weeks in. I am here for you. I will keep you prayer. Hang in their!
@JoJoCat, welcome to DS support groups! And I'm sorry that you have down feelings lately. Nice of you to group-up with us.
@HOWELLGIRL, your words are so kind. :-) It's a pleasure to know that we have a "back-up" support around here.
For me, I take long walks (2-3 hours a day) to fill an "emptiness". I really have to work at being productive each day or it gets really dark... Today, I gotta refinish an old piece of furniture. I'll think about tommorow, tommorow.
Hang tough my friend.
I also know what you are feeling. I have been in a free fall for 4 years since my wife left me. I too find a little relief in writing stuff down. I know what it is like to not have anyone to talk to and to hate ones self. The lack of energy and motivation is paralyzing. Sometimes I found my self frozen, unable to even take step. Maybe when this Covid thing ends, you can find a support group so you can verbalize and see people face to face that are in your shoes. In the meantime, this site has helped me in just the few days I have been here. Keep writing stuff down and ask your councilor if he/she can help you find a support group. My therapist is working on that for me and I am hoping to join one soon. Talking does help.
