Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

It just disgusts me and I wonder wtf is wrong with me that I can't handle what others find tolerable or even enjoyable. I feel so otherly sometimes that I just want to clock out, not even necessarily dead, just isolated and separate from everything. it gets old shoving your fingers in your ears and squeezing your eyes closed all the time, and then feeling like shit because something makes you so sick and others aren't even bothered. There are moments of understanding and moments of connection when I feel a little less alone. I think we're all after those moments. And there are moments of solitude that feel alright too. But on the whole I just don't understand and I'm tired.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

You possess what many lack and more people need.
It does hurt and it does make life difficult but it also puts you in the position of not being a sheep.
The novel itself is amazing, but your post reminded me of that part of it.
I read in a magazine the other day that some people have some kind of 'mental disorder' where they can't stand the sound of other people sniffing or eating. Well hey, I thought. So.... manners is a mental illness now?
They'll find an 'ism' and they'll give you a pill for it, but the thing is if you're reacting to things you can't tolerate, you need to take that seriously and ask why. I became during the end phase of the marriage, actually allergic to being insulted. I became allergic to being put down. I have slowly over the years become allergic to spills on benches by my children (the youngest is 19!!), clothes rotting in bedrooms, I am psychologically allergic to a couple of people, as well.
I do what I can to get through any episodes but I take myself seriously. If I've had a gutsful, it's probably because I've put up with too much. Nature's way of saying 'stop tolerating this! it does you harm!'
Sending you a hug, prayers, and a huge smile. Lots of love to you!
God Bless
bridgie, thanks again, you always seem right in tune with me. The thing that was bothering me the most at the moment I posted this, the final straw for the day you could say, was something that is a recurring discomfort to me that isn't so to anyone else I know, most meaningfully not to my partner. I think I like what you're saying. If it bothers me it fucking bothers me and I don't owe myself or anyone else and explanation. I have a right to actively avoid shit that bothers me, even if no one else on the planet gets it.
Hugs, Mending, thank you. <3
Thank you Jenn and bob and kenznoel too. I really appreciate everyone's input. I don't think medication is an option for me right now, but I know it is there if things get too hard to handle.
