Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Loss of a loved one can make one semi crazy ... which is why there are certain prescribed ways of dealing with grief. I am not minimizing the impact ... of losing your beloved wife ... simply pointing out that WITH SOME HELP, you can deal with it in a way that is better FOR YOU. I recommend you obtain some grief/bereavement counseling. That is where you can learn a lot about what has happened to you.
I lost my Father to type II diabetes. It is true ... he did not follow a prescribed diet ... and died some time after double below-the-knee amputations. I was angry with him for not taking care of himself and allowing himself to die when he could have maintained properly and continued to live. THEN ... I learned some details of diabetes. It AIN'T THAT SIMPLE. If it were .. we would not have such a huge diabetic problem. That disease is very complicated ... and MANY with it CANNOT maintain a proper diet. Diet abuse is PART of the disease.
I don't know what you mean about 'lost my son' ... are you two estranged or has he also passed on? If estranged ... there is one problem caused by your reaction to loss of spouse (by your own words). If you can deal with THAT a different way, perhaps what he could not deal with will no longer be an issue ... and you can resume your good relationship with him.
Taking care of an elderly person is a huge weight .. and TWO of them has to be very stressful. It is noble of you to do this. Here are a couple of truths to consider: You have a right to do that or not do that YOURSELF. In my opinion ... noble of one to choose to do that but not mandatory. If you chose to arrange some other way they could be cared for, you are entitled to that option. We love our parents etc ... but we also are entitled to our own lives. PERHAPS there is a NOBLE way for you to assign that to someone else ... who is more qualified and positioned to help your Father and Aunt. I see nothing wrong with doing that.
I am sure you know it now ... but assault and battery is pretty much not allowed in the US ... anywhere, anytime, anyone. Whut is done is done though ...but I suggest you put a restraining order on your meth-head sister. She is a problem you don't need. I also would not recommend 'ending' her ... if punching her resulted in classes, think what whackin' her will do. User yer head .. not your anger. Call police .. do not assault/batter/whack.
I probably have not been much help ... simply 'preached' to you. For that, I am sorry ... but there is not much more I CAN do .. and be supportive. If there was, I would do it.
Be good to yourself, Drew. Put yourself FIRST ... and give yourself 'good' stuff. You deserve 'good'.
