Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
There will always be some side effects to quitting, but they've been less obtrusive for me when I do it this way.
(Right now I'm switching from zoloft to lexapro and I only weaned myself from the zoloft for about a week before switching, I am suffering for it now I think.)
I am a firm believer that there are many causes of depression and other mental issues. If the causes are due to brain chemistry, then it makes sense to me that medication may be required. But if the causes are due to life experiences, then it makes sense to me that the best cure is to talk it out - get to the root cause and deal with that.
I applaud your efforts to find the cause and deal with it!
As for weaning yourself, here is some info I found:

There are some sites that are anti-SSRI, so I'd be reluctant to take their advice unless it starts off with "consult your doctor".
Welcome to the group, and I hope that you are able to find the peace you are looking for.

You need better help than us, I don't know what luvox is but if it isn't your first SSRI then you aren't just coming off something you just went on. You're coming off a whole raft of the things. maybe 1/2 dose for the first 3 months? then 1/2 again for another 3 is where I would probably start but I'm not a trained professional.
also have you tried wellbutrin? It's not an SSRI, it doesn't work on seratonin. It works on dopamine. I found it amazing and I had GAD at the time too. 2 yrs on wellbutrin changed my life.
