Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

You have many options here. Please understand first that keeping quite about your concerns isn't a good or healthy one. If your doubts are true and you are depressed, it's better to start treatment at this stage rather than letting it grow. Try to see depression as cancer. You wouldn't keep quite about it won't you? THERE IS NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF.
One of the options you have is talking to your school counselor. I am quite sure you have one. A counselor is a trained professional. They won't judge/disrespect you.
The second option you have is actually getting yourself together and speaking to your parents. Ask anyone over here. Depression isn't something you want to ignore. What's the worse that can happen? It's worth trying believe me. Otherwise , if you feel too embarassed to talk to them perhaps because you have no connection with them, consider writing them a letter and ask them to read it. You can run and hide your face under a pillow because you're too intimidated by the fact that you wrote a letter to your parents. But whatever ! you'll be very happy you did that move at some point of your life. You'll be VERY GLAD.
Treat yourself well.
@rebellious It's strange but I just feel like I /really/ don't want my parents to know. I'm not sure why maybe it's because they already think of me as "the disappointing child" or maybe I'm just scared to see how they react the point is I don't know why I don't want them to know explicitly but I know I don't want them to know
Hi there...
I'm sorry you're feeling down.. I can honestly say I know how you feel.
As our situations and circumstances may be different and even how we cope it is the depression that we seem to have in common.
You mentioned it's been about a month since you felt this way and in my opinion a month living in depression is a month too long.
If you are not sure If or so when you choose there are Therapist who can assess, diagnose and even treat depression to make life more manageable and enjoyable.
It sounds like your friends really count on you to bring moral support to the group.
And as you try to live up to your friends expectations of being positive you're placing unnecessary stress upon yourself and soon your attempts to be happy will be overshadowed by your emotions of saddness and possibly even anger if you do get a handle on it.
Listen, it's ok to sad. It's ok to fall apart. And sometimes even the most positive people experience times of negativity in their life's.
And that's when we rely on our friends to be that positive influence for us we once were for them.
Even though you may feel your parents aren't supportive of you don't be so quick to count them out.
As a parent myself much of the misunderstanding comes from attempting to parent a teen in this day and age, differences in communication, and trying to balance work, life and family without messing up too bad.
Jimmy I know lost as I have been there for the past 4 years. But you mustn't stay there cause there's a great big world needing all the good, all the positive and all the encouragement you have to offer.
But before you can give anyone else the best of you you must be able to give yourself the best of you and that starts by seeking help for your depression.
Thank You for your courage in reaching out and I wish you well!
Just remember: if you don't tell people your problems there is no way you can find out if you can tell them your problems. Telling them stuff is the only way to find out. And you need friends who can handle the real you. So you have to actually be the real you.
Start with a small issue, to the friend you trust most. See how it goes.
If it goes badly it might be time to get new friends. But I doubt it will go badly. I think it will go well.
