Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
There are also some other techniques, like gradual exposure - working your way into a situation that causes you anxiety, a little at a time.
Modeling - where someone, a friend or family member, demonststrates for you what causes your anxiety (riding an elevator, for example) and then you do it - perhaps with their encouragement and company. And then eventually, hopefully, alone. You may still have anxiety, but if you are able to do it, the anxiety should lessen the more you are able to make yourself do it, even if it is worse at first.
Another way is to have someone with you to help distract you from acting on your anxiety, and keep you focused on following through with your intention.
All of these things usually require someone to assist you, encourage you, and help you follow through. You could try each one, and see if one works for you better than another.
