Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Please keep looking for a therapist. There are good ones out there, it is a matter of keeping on looking. Be up front with them about what you think will work for you, and what you think will not work for you. And just as important, talk to them about what they think about your preferences and see what they have to say.
Gone are the days (or they should be gone) when a doctor or therapist says "Here is my advice, it will work, do it, and if it does not work it is YOUR fault!"
Gentle hugs
Even if you were committed, if you were to work through your issues, you would be released.
So unless you are really harbouring some quite psycho terrifying desires to murder, maim, bomb parliament or you know, carve up your counsellor's face with a steak knife, do not ever fear being committed. even if you're hearing voices - if you acknowledge that they're voices, they'll just find you medication. If you were sitting there telling them God told you to burn the house down and no, it is god, and no, it isn't voices - then they'd want to do something. But if you say 'i know it's voices' they will then even take care of you.
counselling is wonderful and very useful if you have the guts to tell them what's bugging you. Saying it is healing. Saying it is purging.
You won't get a result if you don't express the truth. :D
