contact United Way, they have a list of volunteer organizations to choose from that need help. maybe there's something in social services that you'll like and you can make friends that way.

join a book club or a sports club i.e. skiing or ice hockey, hiking.

Now I am the one who needs help.

I have met some great people through volunteering. I can only say from personal experience it's a great way to expand your options to meet others.

My duty is to stay at the computer and to pretend to do mathematical work. I doubt my parents will be happy if I got involved in volunteering. I am not even sure I myself would like to. I depend on my parents 100%.

Older threads are on the back pages. At the bottom of the page you'll see green numbers 2 through five thousand something. That's where you'll find the older threads. I suspect that your parents would appreciate your need for human contact. Once you get your driver's license, you'll have the ability to get out and meet people. You could always use the volunteering as means to meet a wife. I am 1/4 Russian and I know how strong the social pressure to get married is. At your age, (I'm 45 so I have some idea what I'm talking about), there is an expectation to be married and independent. So get your driver's license and get a life.

I am not interested in meeting women. My social status is below that of any woman in USA. No one would be interested in me.

But in the past I had male friends and now I am totally alone.

I am etnically Jewish, but Russian is my first language. Between 2006 and now, I have been almost away from English forums.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. You don't have to actually LOOK for a wife, just tell your folks that you are volunteering to find and meet people. Many women here in the States are less concerned about social class than you seem to be. More people may be interested in you than you suspect. I really think that if you get out and meet people, you will feel better about yourself and your status.

I doubt they will appreciate it.

If I could meet some people in my area with whom I would talk mostly on the phone and sometimes meet in person that would be great.
