Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
As to them talking behind your back, it is a free world and they can say what they think to each other. All you can do is ensure they have nothing to talk about. If you have given th em something to talk about you have to wait for the next person to do the next talkabe thing.
I have to ask how you know they are talking about you? Have you heard them or are you assuming based on knowing you have given them something to say?
Either way the only move you have is to live it down. You can't ask questions without feeding the fire and you want the fire to die, So no more fuel now.
Secondly, even if true, you can't ignore it, because it's impossible to ignore. What you can do however is endure it. In silence. And that's the only thing I know how to do. If you endure it in a few months it'll be over. If you can go one step further, and walk in the door every morning and smile at everyone and say hi pleasantly, then that time will go faster. You have to find a way to act natural and never, ever do anything sudden or screwy. Always friendly, always nice. You keep that going for about 3 months and whatever crime you have committed will end.
Just remember people make up their minds about you based on how you act towards them, over a period of time. So you might be the thing that is gossiped about now, but if you give no further fodder for gossip, it will end.
If there is someone there who you feel is sympathetic to you, maybe you can talk to them quietly and ask what they think you are doing wrong. But you have to be willing to hear it. You have done something to start them talking; now you have to find a way to live it down and carry on your business without making anything new to talk about.
