Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Sitting in a chair (fetal position) in front of a Veterans Hospital psychiatrist, I told her "I am crosswise with the universe. Can't make anything work anymore. I am mad as hell ... and I don't even know why."
Then, .. soon after, a PTSD diagnosis, anger management classes, medication ... and I am having a very good life now.
Learned in the classes, ... Anger .. ALWAYS destructive ... ultimately destroys the angered.
Remember that. There are other ways to manage things. Anger is a primitive emotion. Kept us alive when we lived in caves.
Pretty much obsolete now .. in modern society. ALWAYS a better way to go than the 'anger thing'. It is self harm ... when you think about it.
i learned to catch myself when i was angry, and i would try to qualify the anger i was feeling... i would look into the future and ask myself, how long should i be angry about this? how long will i feel the effects of whatever made me angry? all my life? a year? 5 minutes? 5 seconds?
it may seem silly but at least it let me put forth the appropriate amount of anger... and eventually, my general angry level went down to the point that its very hard to anger me anymore (it is possible tho)
it didnt make my anger go away overnight, but once i got into the habit of doing that, it at least made me non-angry enough to start making friends again... which was good, cause i lost a lot of them during my angry phase
good luck... i hope something in this helps
Please let us know the results when you find out, if you don't mind sharing. Hugs GB
I'm glad it works for others though.
