How to apply for disability

Hey guys! I recently posted about not knowing what to do about either working or going onto disability. I've checked my states requirements and I'm pretty much guaranteed to get it without needing an appeal, but am still not going in alone. I really think it would be best for me to get a lawyer because I wouldn't even know where to start.
My question for you guys is: How do I find a lawyer and what is it called when you only pay a lawyer if you win? I've been trying to search for one, but have no clue what I'm doing and what to look for. I appreciate any help.

Hey there, I'm currently in the middle of a trying to get SSI, which is very similar in SSDI and the process for getting either one is the same, so hopefully I am able to help you out a bit. I would not recommend getting a lawyer unless you are denied the first or second time and need assistance really. I've been denied for SSI multiple times, and I finally decided to get a lawyer for my most recent attempt. Most SSI/SSDI lawyers work based on them getting paid only if you win. The general payment is that they get 25% of your initial earnings or $6,000, whichever is less.
