Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
The other thing someone told me she does is she sits or lays on the couch/bed and asks: What would you have me to do? - asking that of whoever or whatever is your Higher Power or just that wise part of yourself. Then listen. Something will come to you. I did this one time and my message was to take a luxurious bubble bath - and this is 3 in the afternoon. I thought it was an absurd response, but i figured that was my message, and i ought to heed it because the next one could be right behind it!!
Hope this helps a little. I know it's not easy....
Blessings,
Andrea
Make no mistake, I have many days like the one you're describing, but some things that help: Upbeat, healing music that makes me want to dance; being with my dog; walking by myself, even if it's just for a short time; my favorite comfort foods; giving myself a special treat of some kind.
I am on meds and do talk therapy, both of which help a lot in general. I also find prayer helpful, though I know not everyone is into this.
I hope you have a good day.
I really like music too, so the suggestion of having some upbeat music sounds like it would be helpful too...as does just walking some. Getting out and getting some fresh air would probably be helpful.
I've tried lists before, but the whole reward system of doing a little bit of something when something's done off the list is something I don't think I've tried, so I'll try that too.
So yeah, these are all really good suggestions. Thank ya'll. =3
There are rules I live by so my motivation does not go wildly or openly to no limitations. There are rules that keep me on track and safe, but easy enough rules to honor.
