Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I enjoy and am grateful for life. I get up early, and am VERY busy until late a night .... and I am retired. I do not have time to sink back into depression.
I've tried lots of medications and they didn't help and maybe I am just not a strong person, but I am exhausted.
I am glad you have enjoyment in your life, I can't find it anymore.
I get up at 5, travel to work for 1 1/2 hours, work til 6, travel home, do chores, eat and it is 11 when I fall asleep, I don't have energy to do more, I am worn out and done in.
Thank you for replying, I think I need to go back to the doctor.
As for making it, I think the biggest thing that we all have to do is to put in the effort. We have to want it.
And yes I know, it is very hard.
Gentle hugs
I relate so much to what you said. We are in the same boat by the sound of things. It is best for me not to spend too much time alone. I can think myself into near panic! It is true!
Remember - One Day At A Time - wishing you the best

I don't understand some comments and I am sorry for that. I appreciate you trying to help.
I don't even know if this is where to say it, but wherelse could I speak.
I've lived, I've done it, I didn't like it and to me that's fine life isn't for everyone.
But I have to stay here because I do care about what other people think, and I can't hurt them...
I suppose the question should be, when you have given up, you aren't strong like you all seem to be, but you have to keep going because you aren't horrible and you care for other people.
How? I just want to be gone, I don't want to pretend anymore, I can't find happiness, I have no more hope it will get better, but I care that people will be sad if I go. How do you keep going.
I'm broke and I can't fix it anymore, the cracks are too big to paper over. Someone please help because no one else will. You all seem so sorted and happy, how do I be like you?
Accept the pain.
You are miserable. You need to cry.
You hate your life: you need to change it.
You get nothing for you: get something for you.
You can't be passive and effect change. You have to do something to change something.
even if that's take 2 weeks off and just go to bed and cry.
I know that when you are fallen down the well you don't see the world outside the well. All there is is darkness and horror. And cold and loneliness. Everyone hates you, you think. You have no friends, you think. You certainly cannot see any friends here. Your life is a long eternal hell.
But that's because you're in the well. The sunshine and flowers aren't down the well. The happiness and friendships aren't down the well. When you're fallen down the well, you're alone with it till you learn how to climb out. This is your well. Nobody else can fall down your well. they can only fall down their own.
Some people climb out, and some people just sit there forever, and some people kill themselves. I climbed out. I think that's the best option.
How did I climb out?
Well it's a funny old thing. I climbed out by letting my body do it. I climbed out by ignoring all the advice, and letting myself be what I was. so I cried and cried. And I sat silent and sat. And I watched movies that weren't meaningful. And my soul was able to fill back up.
When your soul fills back up you are back out in the sunshine. If you're not intelligent, you'll wind up back in the well. You have to learn to remember the well when you are in the sunshine. you have to learn to remember the sunshine when you are in the well.
You have to learn to process how you are feeling and let it happen without your overview calling it names. Treat yourself better! don't psychoanalyse yourself while you're going through experiences. Throw psychoanalysis out the window. Just accept the states you are in, without thought.
Don't try to think your feelings. FEEL your feelings. Let them happen, let them go, let them be gone. leave them where they fall. don't drag dead feelings through life with you.
so yeah. Less thinky thinky. More dooo. :D
Secondly, why do you have to pretend how you are feeling to anyone? That can make your sadness so much worse, by not letting out the pain you are struggling with. Do you have a therapist? Someone that you can open up to? Sometimes it takes a lot of time to figure out what medication is going to work for you, if that's what you need. And all the people here on this depression site, can support you because they know what you have been through and what you are going through now. You are not alone. Hugs GB
I think maybe quitting all those drugs, carefully, and when that's over go walkabout.
You need to go walkabout. Go to greece and pick grapes. Go to spain and pick cherries. get an old combi van and just go. You can be depressed and pick fruit. And they let you park your combi van by the irrigation pond and live 2 minutes away from work.
I think if you gave yourself a year bumming around europe, as we call it here in NZ, you would fundamentally change the dynamic of your life. Fundamentally. Doesn't matter if you hated it: you would learn from it. You would regenerate whether you wanted to or not.
You've tried everything except a 100% sea change. Time to pull out the big guns. Save your pennies, pack your bread and cheese into your knapsack, and bugger off.
Make sure you see a Doctor for medication choices, and if possible, find a therapist that will hear your cries of desperation.
I understand where you are at the moment. So do many of us here. My heart is filled with compassion for you and I send a tender hug your way.
