Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
its hard to say very much without knowing you and your situation better, but some general advice would be to try to see the good things in life more clearly
everything has a good side and a bad side to it, and we're trained from birth to only see the bad in things... modern media (books, tv shows, movies, the news, etc) make us search out the bad in life and then let someone else fix them... but in real life, that just doesnt work
this is very difficult, but if you keep at it, it will work
try very hard to catch yourself noticing the bad in things, and when you do, force yourself to see two good things about it too
an example: you say youre about to lose your house... sure, its easy to see the bad in that, but theres good in it too... you'll be able to go through your things and get rid of what you dont need, find things you havent seen in a long time, and of course, the new place will have all sorts of positive things about it... maybe its closer to your favorite resteraunt, or maybe the windows let more light in to brighten your day, or maybe the air conditioning smells better... these things you wont know untill you get there of course, but im just trying to point out that you can look to the future as a good thing, even when its a bad thing that sets you on that new path
i hope this has made some sense, and helps a bit
*hugs*
First of all, congratulations on taking care of FOUR teenagers all on your own! Being a single Mom must be SO difficult, but you can do it. I know that you have been feeling this way everyday for awhile, but I want to encourage you and let you know that you WILL get out of this.
I suffered from depression most of my life and was eventually diagnosed with PMDD. I overcame all of that. From being suicidal and going into fits of rage and severe depression, if I could drag myself out of it, you can do this too! You have FOUR beautiful children to help you :-) Don't think of this as: you gave them your depression, you didn't. Sit down and TALK with them, spend some time letting them know how hard it has been for you to be on your own with them and how much you love them. Ask them for their support.
I had NO support during my depression. Through PMDD, I had my boyfriend. No one understood PMDD and I did not want to admit my depression to anyone. I have been trying to reach out to as many people as I can to offer support and let them know that they are not alone. I am here to support you - you are not going anywhere. Your babies NEED you!
I would LOVE to help and support you, and also to share my story of how I overcame this - I think it will really help you :-) Please add me to Facebook so that we can message there and it is not so public: Amanda J. Noe. I really look forward to finding out more about you, helping you, and being a source of support and positivity in your life!
Congrats on being able to get through the things you have that is really amazing that you have been able to be so strong. I really admire that. I would love the help, and I would love to talk more. Amd I think theyll happen since we are talking via message too. :) Facebook? What is that? On here right? I do need the help and the support. Thank you. I often feel very alone. Thank you for everything!!
Today is a bit of a better day. Things are getting a step closer to being okay in my mess of a life right now. There are ten other things to take care of still but I am not getting down today. Today is a good day :) I will appreciate that.
