Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
He probably is unconscious of his attachment so really screwed himself over by thinking he didn't care and ditching you, hence all the pain and self harm
If he wants to repair his heart then maybe he should do highly trained, in need of the clientele therapy long term to help him learn to feel his feelings.
Sounds like the anti depressants worked? Maybe he should take those too
Ideally though he would learn to feel connected to you not a therapist, but I hear it can be pretty complex reaching people. One guy once told me that he spent years trying to connect to me emotionally....
Sigh... If only there were more sociopaths like him in the world...
of course maybe he genuinely doesn't love you in which case, maybe he's regretting ending it with you before finding someone he does like to date because it's so hard to cope..
But... Sounds like the depression got him and fooled him into thinking he didn't care
Sounds like you think you found a keeper, people without feelings are often capable of behaving much better than your average jerk I mean man.
Why not ask him if you think he does actually care for you under the numbness of depression and see if he wants to go back out?
If you just want to be friends and YOU need more time then let him learn to cope with that, he was the one who ended it so he needs to accept that you need terms to process that
If however you don't need more time to be just friends then why not hang out now if he wants?
Just curious
Alot of ill people struggle to cope with relationship endings, so.... He'll probably feel better if you see him again
Try to do it in a predictable committed way at regular intervals, perhaps that will help him calm down and stop his confusing feelings
