Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
It is only minimal help that is given for emergency care to stabilize someone's life.
We need health care reform if we hope to see quality health care for the poor in our society. I know coping with poverty related issues in combination with disability after the death of my husband I have become one of the many 'invisible' suffering survivors. In nine years I have not been able to locate even one non-profit to help with needed home repairs to allow me to have a healthy home to live in as a disabled person - even with me providing all the needed materials and supplies and only needing help with someone doing the work. It is just the reality of the crisis those of us with health issues combined with the resulting poverty issues are faced with these days. Unless it is aired on the evening news or there is some other form of media coverage the poor in need simply are left to needlessly suffer. I could very well repair my home and have it in very good condition with the materials being tossed into our landfills and that is what not only hurts as a reality I face but makes me feel ill that this is the society I live in that would allow me nine years of needless suffering as a disabled person while I could meet most of my housing repair needs with what is tossed out in the land fill and goes to waste.
If I were not so ill so much of the time I would organize a co-op for food and perhaps start one for used building materials if there was enough need and interest.
The reality of poverty and lack of basic, good quality medical care are issues our society has become completely blind and insensitive to. Greed is what life seems to be so much about today.
We survive by taking it one small step at a time.

I hope this helps. Take care!
