I know a police officer in training who makes it a goal to sleep around with a different girl every night. Then he calls the girl the slut for doing it. I'm absolutely disgusted by this guys behavior and worry for the girls safety. Honestly I don't know why I care about the girls so much since they are obviously not behaving at there best either. But what is with people these days and having meaningless sex? Did people forget about STD's already? Do they not teach people about HIV and AIDS anymore? Do people not want to be with someone special anymore? It's so hard to find a connection with someone already because of my depression. But honestly the behaviors I have come in contact lately by men have scared me for life. I just had to share this with who ever felt like reading this...And would like to hear any thought on the topic of hookups.

You are alone in this, trust me. I'm repulsed by the thought of a 'hookup' and completely terrified to have sex again until it is with someone I know respects me and genuinely cares for me.

Yeah, it is pretty scary in the dating world - at least for me it is. I guess some people feel invincible, sure that nothing bad will happen to them. And I think many of the women use sex to try to get the relationship they want - and relationships come in many forms.
I think it is so hard for people to connect emotionally - especially men - that sex is the only connection they know how to make.

I feel you on this one. It's really hard to find people who are genuine. If you know him personally maybe you should tell him that what he's doing is wrong, otherwise there is not much you can do.

I can relate to this story. One time I found myself in a relationship with a man who I felt an immediate connection with and I truly felt he was "the one". Well, within a few weeks "the one" revealed he was married...21 years...and had 2 children. He didn't want a long-term relationship. He wanted to have a friends with benefits. He was that flat-out blunt about it. I told him to get lost. It wasn't too long that I saw him with yet another woman....and a few months later a new woman. It made me so angry it was everything I could do to not just call up his wife and tell her everything!

Promiscuity is bad enough, but his disrespect of others is even more shameful.

He'll make a fine cop...NOT.

But there are decent men out there who want a relationship.

The trick is finding them. I do think you have to kiss a few toads before you find your prince. And there are plent of people -- both men and women -- who misrepresent themselves, online and in person. And then there's the whole timing thing. You meet someone, they are ready for a relationship, but you're not. Or vice versa.

I know this one all to well, unfortunately... glad I dont drink anymore and make bad choices... Im also glad I am not out in the *dating scene* anymore... I feel for the ones that are out there looking for love in all the wrong places... What a dick....
