Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
At any rate, I will be completely candid with you about my own thoughts....I think of suicide daily. Every day. There isn't a day that goes by that it doesn't cross my mind. Most days it's very fleeting but other days I spend a bit more time on the thought. That said, I can still make it through each day feeling relatively certain that I will still be here tomorrow...next week...next year.
I think many of us think of it more than we will admit to, but what matters is the fact that, although we have these thoughts, that we can rise above them and find at least one reason to live and thus far I have found a reason each day, even if it is the smallest of reasons.
When looking ahead to the holiday season, just find one small thing each day that gives you joy....be it a laugh from something you find funny to a kind word from someone. Maybe make a plan for each day through the end of the year....a plan for you to give a kind word or a support to someone. Your support or kind word to a stranger on any given day may just be what that person needs to get them through and with that, you have done something wonderful....and THAT is what can keep you going....
