Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
If you must be alone at Christmas,..perhaps you can make plans to keep yourself busy,..maybe rent a whole bunch of movies,..ones you have been wanting to see...
I have also been alone at Christmas,.and I try to look at it as just another day,..I know it's hard,..but please don't get so down about it that you do somethiing you will regret,..it is just not worth it,...
Life changes...you know? I take a lot of stress from my "mom" (not my real mom, but more of a mother that mine was). I made a choice to spend Thanksgiving with her. I know she will stress me out, but when the day comes, she will be kind & loving, her family will treat me & my kids well, and I will have worked hard to help cater the dinner & clean-up.
She rented a banquet room, expecting 80 or so people. We are all pitching in to bring food, but I feel overwhelmed & slammed.
It's that, or be alone, or deal with my own twisted relatives nearby.
So....I'll take her stress anyday. She helps me carry mine too.
I'm glad you have someone to spend Thanksgiving with. She may feel stressed if she has relatives that can't or won't spend the holiday with her. Elderly people can be fussy, but you are doing both of you a great favor to spend the day dining together. At least you won't have to cook or clean-up, ha?
Hugs!!!
