Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
During high school I pushed myself to hang out with people, but during the summer I isolated myself away. Sometimes never going outside just to see the sun. For me, things did get worse after high school. I couldn't even seem to find the energy to push myself into having a social life...But again, everyone is different.
High school is just rough in general

i always from day one hated it, i started going less and less and my depression got worse as the years rolled by. and in the end i only just passed my exams with C's and D's (basically average grades). if i stayed and went all the time i would of got better grades, but i got bullied a lot for my problems so it was hard.
but it's weird it seems there's always some sort of competition, if you like, especially in the girls side of things. like who's the most popular, who's the prettiest, who has the cutest boyfriend. e.t.c e.t.c
or maybe that was just at my school.
school isn't the best place i'll admit. but it helps you in the long run. after i left school i went to college but dropped out, i'm going back next year but generally after high school things weren't so good for me.
but that's just my case, everyone's different. you just have to see how things go for you.
My depression has been on and off since I was ten. It did get better just after high school - for a while, college for me was great, but after about 5 or 6 years everybody I knew started graduating and moving away. It was a time of change and I couldn't handle that. That was about 3 years ago, with a year ago being the worse of my depression, but I am pulling myself back up.
I do believe I have never felt as low as I did in middle school. High school got better for with the exception that I was still carrying around alot of baggage from before, which caused me to stumble through it.
I don't know if you have any plans for the future, college, work, travel, ect. but instead of just thinking about them, start working for them. Take extra classes in "what you want to be when you grow up"
Right now what is saving me is school, I'm back in college and studying creative writing. Funny I never would have thought of studying as an escape - or something I enjoy doing!
Point is I am doing something I want to do that makes me happy. I am not around people that I feel will judge me. I am doing something without wondering what others will think of me - just doing it because I love it. If you can find soemthing like that, then it can really help. I do have some supportive people in my life that encourage me to do what I love. Even if the only people that support you are here on this site, then so be it, if you love it then do it.
Anyways I know high school can be a great struggle, people judge you so much there, just keep looking for the ones that don't and ignore the rest.
If you ever want to talk I'm here!
If I had had some help when I ws your age I would have learned how to handle it better and saved myself a lot of [pain.
I seriously urge you to get help NOW ------ get a good cognative therapist and work with them on how to live with this disease.
You can write and ask me anything - when it come to depression I've been there -done that.
Blessings
Meg
So the answer for me is, yes, it can get much easier after high school, but you have to work at it. I've taken many, many journeys inside myself and been to too much therapy.
