Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Instead of just lying there getting pissed off about being awake I put some aromatherapy oils in my diffuser, but on some music or a podcast/audiobook, get myself comfy and just relax.
After a while I started to almost look forward to going to bed. Instead of dreading lying awake and getting annoyed about things I saw it as my time to relax. Sleep or no sleep.
As soon as I found myself getting frustrated and wound up I got up and left the bedroom until I calmed down.
Eventually, all the negative feelings I had about going to bed disappeared and I was getting into bed feeling calm. After a while my ability to sleep really improved.
Google 'sleep hygiene' if you're not familiar with the term. The only thing I ignore is the bit about not having radio/tv etc on. I find if I distract my mind I'm more likely to sleep because I'm not spending the night thinking about everything.
Failing that you could see a doctor for medication.
I need a good bedtime routine as well.
My house is chaos.
