Is it a sin when you don't help those who you are aware that need it? Even if its not your fault their boat sank if you are on a boat that is not sinking and you have a life preserver is it a sin not to throw it out to them?

why not ask God.Humans make up a whole list of sins but no one but Him knows if theyre sins.People say my eating disorder is but no one really knows.

Ethically, you are required to help others if you have an abundance, not if you are going to deplete your own supply.

Sin, well, there but go the grace of God go I. So, it depends on your beliefs, perhaps God puts them in your path for a reason. But, teach a man to fish.....I don't think God expects you to do the fishing for them.

Sometimes-- well alot of the time- when we are greatly depressed, we cannot even see that someone else is in need. We can barely find ourselves a life preserver let alone offer one to someone else. The fog in our heads and our hearts is so thick and heavy, it's a wonder we can even breathe. Don't beat yourself up for not doing something that you are not capable of doing.

The only biblical response to that that I know of is in James...not sure of the verse. It reads "It is a sin to know what you should do, and not do it." So take that as you want it, I know that verse haunts me every now and then!
