Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
1. Take a time-out- Practice yoga, listen to music, meditate, get a massage, learn relaxation techniques. Stepping back from problems helps clear your head.
2. Limit caffeine and alcohol if you drink these- these trigger panic attacks. Drink Water.
3. Exercise daily- makes you feel good and maintains your health.
4. Slowly count to 10- Repeat and count to 20 if necessary.
5. Accept that you cannot control everything
6. Give back to your community- Volunteer. This creates a support network and gives you a break from everyday stress.
7. Talk to someone-vent and let them know you need help. Friends, family, doctor, therapist
8. Eat well-balanced meals- Do not skip meals and eat energy boosting snacks.
9. Take deep breathes- Inhale and exhale slowing throughout the day when you are feeling stressed.
10. Do your best- Instead of aiming for perfection which is not possible. Be proud of how close you get.
11. Maintain a positive attitude- Replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts.
12. Learn what triggers your anxiety- Is it work, family or school or something else you can identity?. Write in a journal and look for a pattern.
13. Continue to seek help online
