Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm feeling a little guilty. Late last summer a yellow male cat in really rough shape showed up at my house. We named him Colby, like the cheese. I have never liked the cat or been all that nice to him but still he had a good home here with plenty to eat for a short time.
For awhile now he has been acting depressed and in pain. On and off his pupils dilate interdependently and he is vocal about it and doesn't seem to see well. He also limps and acts sore. He is an indoor cat. We noticed a cyst a few weeks ago that was so big on his stomach he was waddling. Then it burst. This morning I guess the cyst was back because there were puddles of pus and blood all over the house. I can't have this it's gross and he is clearly suffering. So I called the vet and we are going to have him put down. I feel bad even tho I haven't had him long and not attached to him. I feel guilty for not getting him better medical care but it's so expensive. I have other cats and a dog to worry about so I can't spend hundreds of dollars on him then skip out on flea meds and wormer and my other male cat's neuter this summer.
It makes me so angry that other people get tired of their pets then dump them out sick old or hurt at my house. I wish people would be more responsible. Even having Colby put to sleep is going to cost. But I don't want to take him out and shoot him and have that on my hands, it's even worse. I feel so bad.
