Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I have that nasty little perfectionist streak too. When I get depressed my self-talk can get really bad, and I just ruminate-I have a hard time shutting down my brain. I'll have a to-do list for example, and I'll kick butt on items 1-9 and just kick myself because I didn't get to 10. When I really think about it-that is so distorted! How about the other NINE things? Why not focus on those 9 things I did do......but when I've gotten depressed my thoughts become so negative. Thanks so much for the reminder to catch this self-talk, and yes, I agree, dealing with that nasty self-talk, especially over the long hall, can make a difference in mood for sure!
I know for a fact my thoughts affect my mood because I see the direct correlation. I'll be feeling pretty good, sometime will happen that makes me remember something bad I think about myself and I'm instantly dejected and tired, just totally deflated.
