Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
When I think about it, I have good reasons to be as upset as I am. Facing termination is one of them.
The other reason is the breakdown of one aspect of my social life. Granted, I have a few large circles of friends, and thriving. But I am suffering the loss and disappointment of a community that I used to be a part of and it has deteriorated.
I used to camp with a lot of people, but lately that has just fallen apart. I actually cancelled the upcoming trip. I kind of forced myself to go to the last couple of events. And frankly, the last one was awful. I worked at a banquet where I ended up paying for my meal and should not have as I was on staff. I witnessed several people lose their tempers which made it all the worse. I have seen people fly off the handle and frankly act like total assholes. I used to think this was a cool place, like a soft pillow to land sort of, but it's not. I did some really hard thinking-through of all of this and came to the conclusion that if I attend the big annual event coming up that if all the same people are attending, I will be dealing with the same shit. So, I ate the monetary fee and cancelled. I'm glad that I see the reality about this situation as I realize that things will not be different and that I will not be finding what I am hoping for, any future nice relationships or potential for good friendships or romantic relationships. I took my cues when I heard from more than one person that the place is brimming at the seams with backstabbers and fake friends. Maybe I just should be lucky that I found out NOW. Before it got worse. But, I am sad. Sobering as it is, it is better to know the truth now. Hence, I see the positive aspect of "depression." The realization of the truth so that one can re-evaluate the situation and move forward.

Facing termination is difficult. I am sorry you have to go thru this.
Is there any chance you can reach out to the good people in the group and start a new group, one dedicated to having fun and a good time?
