Normally I wouldn't post as it might be triggering, but we are already triggered, no? Robin Williams was nearly universally loved, and for those who claim not to be affected...I think they may be lying.

Although I will say I am not surprised, as he had that manic quality. And, I remember times in hospital, times when the medication made all the difference. I remember seeing patients radically improving on lithium and other stabilizing drugs, a true transformation. I took lithium and it did help with my depression. As a result, I think that when people are severely swayed by an illness, suicide is not actually a choice, as such people are under the influence of a brain that has failed them. My own attempt, I know, the mainstay to keeping me well was medical first. I believe to a point when I attempted I was not rational. Maybe truly delusional if I am telling the truth. We don't know the reason he made his "decision," but after having been stabilized myself and watched other patients profoundly helped through medicine, I have to wonder if his mind didn't delude him, too.

Still, knowing the things I do, I am still horribly upset. Upset that someone who gave so much to us could not receive what he needed, and for that I am truly upset.
