In any event, you are asking huge but necessary questions. (I read the post you linked to.) That type of abuse really requires professional help, we here can offer the social network that complements the professionals!
Two things come to mind: He was 6 years older than you, that puts the blame square on him. Second, you have every right to move forward! Anybody who suggests otherwise has seriously lost their moral compass and is not to be tolerated when they spout such crap.
You say you have trust issues, and that is understandable. Make people EARN your trust. Give it out in small increments as it is earned.
It looks like you are starting out on the road to making sense of all this, and that is great! Kudos to you for doing so.
But I feel so much for you. All I can say, and I know my writings mean nothing to you, it is not your fault, not your fault for a second. And you have to move forward you are worth it. You did not "let it happen".
I am no good for advice you have so much of my sympathy and so much empathy from me, a massive hug from me.
I know it is the hardest thing in the world and I know I can't give advice, but please do see someone, someone who can give you somewhere to work through these emotions and feeling. You deserve so much happiness from your life. As people have said, it won't leave you, I wish I could make it, but you can find ways of coping, if not forgetting then dealing, realising it for what it was an abuse and moving forward.
