True, I write better when I'm depressed. Still can't get it published though lol!

I have waves of creativity when Im struck down. This manifests itself on the guitar, in words or in electro music, some of it is good, some of it is dire.My problem is not recognising the good when Im miserable. I write things, throw a tantrum and never use it because I dont feel its good enough.
I admire you for being able to channel it so positively.

Woopsy!

We'll I acctually work with another guitar player, and we record EVERYTHING while we are jamming. So i ussually go on his word to tell me if its garbage or not!..lol..

Ussually i go back after a week or two and listen to what i had recorded when i was feeling out of it. when i am more clear minded to make the decision if i should continue working with it, or delete it.

Few weeks ago i told my buddy to play a simple 4 chord progression..and i was solo over it as an improv. Turned out to be one of sadest and most angry insturmental's i ever written, i couldent belive it when i went back and listened to the recording..was in shock.


Baz: If you ever need any opion on your music, just hit me up! Never make a decision on your music while you are down, it will NEVER be good enough, trust me..haha.

Definitely. My best poetry comes out when I'm feeling at my worst...And I feel like my sketches portray more intense emotion as well.

I write better when I'm lonely...if I'm writing serious things or poetry. But my humor writing is so much more effective when I'm not so dark and sad.

My sarcasm really shows through when I'm pissed or sad lol!

At my most depressed I did a beautiful picture of the 4 horses of the apocalypse. Unfortunately, I accidentally threw it out with some papers when I was feeling better.

I don't know if I'm better at music when I'm depressed, but I definitely know that singing keeps me alive. I teach music and perform professionally, but it's the singing for myself that has really helped me.

Most of my best writings come when I am low/hurting....go figure :/

It's really bad though when I get low and still have writers block. Ugh.

BooBoo, that's an interesting thing. I used to sing at weddings, funerals, etc. I played every day of my life on my piano, flute, or clarinet until I injured my spine and lost feeling in my left hand. I really miss it as an emotional outlet.
wes, what sort of stuff do you do? I mean, I know you said metal, but what sort of metal?

As a guitarist, artist, and jewelry maker....I do much better work when I am not depressed. The creativity seems to get suppressed along with my optimism.
