Some therapists operate on a sliding fee schedule....my visits are not covered by insurance. When my employer cut my hours, I told my therapist and she lowered my fee. I also had counseling many years ago by a priest and it was entirely free. He helped me deal with my dad's passing. I was told that when priests enter seminary, they have to major in something, and mine studied to become a therapist as well. Unfortunately he moved out of the area. I have also recently had several sessions with a minister, due to the situation with my mom. Again...free. I am in no way trying to shout "religion". I feel that is a very personal choice. And I can honestly say that the priest and minister did not make the therapy religion based. May be worth looking in to.

My counsellor was from Catholic social services and he took payment of what I could afford. Which was about $30.

And that's what I paid. When I win lotto I'm giving Catholic Social Services $10,000. they are amazing, and my counsellor was really the best.
