Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I wrote a long email to a new friend to answer some questions she asked. It was mostly upbeat, then I started talking about relationships because she asked about the people in my life and I realised I was uncomfortable. I told her so, said I was surprised by my own reaction. It was only a small sentence in a long letter. Then she sent me an angry rant about how I was defensive even though she didn't ask for me to talk about things that made me uncomfortable, that obviously if I wrote it then I wanted to talk about it. It was like a slap. I wrote about a lot of things that still bring me some happiness and she took an introspective comment out of it, ignored the rest.
And here comes the worst. I felt she was wrong, but I felt crushed and guilty to my core for making her angry, so I apologised as profusely as I could. Then she wrote back that I was dishonest by being nice, and that people like me who are too nice deserve to get to the finish line last, and that I should stop being nice to her if I only do it to gain support on social media. And I was like, why did I deserve this? I was friendly and happy to get to know a new person, who the hell cares about SM, she started commenting on my pictures unprompted, the she turns it around saying I don't care about her? Even worse, she knows how bad off I am and still pulls this shit.
And the bottom line of this all: I'm still feeling worthless and guilty, I apologised to her again, and I don't know how to make it better. I feel so, so guilty, even though I know I should stand up for myself instead. I want to keep apologising until she says she forgives me, although I don't know what I did wrong.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?

The best antidepressant is when my wishes are honored. An example, the faucet in my apartment was running although the knobs were turned shut all the way, and one of the pulling strings on my ceiling fan came off. As soon as I notified my maintenance man, he was quick to reply with the work order. RAPID response... he's getting my services around my apartment done. I appreciate my landlord and...

Hello,so I'm currently in a weird relationship with my long distance ex who I've never met in person and it's taking a toll on me. I've lost 15 pounds and lost my appetite, but I'm really attached to him. We've had a lot of problems and I think that has caused me to gain severe anxiety. I don't know if I should wait until it gets better or what. Everytime I've blocked him, it has tend to make me...

I am a very hard person as I put up defences because of those people. And I understand how you must feel about the unworthiness and guilt as I carried it for years... i still struggle with the idea of being good enough. sigh.. anyways, I dont want to leave a comment solely on bitterness.
I am extremely sorry this happened to you, ANd No, you dont deserve that. You poured your heart out and this girl was so mean. no, no its not you. Its her being dismissive. Keep your head high darling, despite how it may feel. I felt horrible having to cut people from my life but it had to be done. People like her arent worth it.
its not your fault, remember that, ok?
And as for apologizing repeatedly, it is not necessary for several reasons:
1. You have nothing to apologize for, and
2. Anyone who doesn't accept a heartfelt and genuine apology is a big jerk and not friend material.
