HI All,
Have you ever felt trapped inside your head. You know what you should do to try to make life better for yourself but can't seem to get motivated to do it. I have been saying for a long time that I need to get out of working for Home Depot. The store I am working at is SO mismanaged. Many of the assistant managers have left. I just heard that a really nice guy who wasn't even with the store for 6 months, who was a great manager, transferred to another store. Many of the managers and other people have left, I've been with the store for 2 years, my anniversary was on May 30th. I waited until I got my vacation time. I didn't want to leave without taking that.
I am trying to plan something fun to do.
But I am so miserable there. I am starting to have panic attacks. On Tues when I was there I felt dizzy. It passed after a few hours. But it was scary. I have been off yesterday and today and am working there for 4 hours tomorrow (I work PT there)
I feel like job hunting is like trying to climb Mount Everest.
I also would like to go to NY, I am a Star Trek fan and there is an exhibit going on at the Intrepid Air and Space museum. (My nephew also lives in Staten Island and I would like to see him, though we are not close)
I haven't been to NY in 11 years. That is when I moved out of NY to where I am now.
Some days I'll lay in bed and not want to leave. But I find a reason to get up. Today I had to do laundry and want to weed in the backyard and take care of my plants. I also walk a neighbor's rottweiler (I do it on my days off during the week)

I completely understand where you are at. I spend two and a half years as a data entry "specialist" and it was a TEMP position! Can you believe that? I spend two years letting them string me along, working over 40 hours many weeks and not even getting the benefits of full time employees. They wouldn't even allow me to go to their x-mas party! It wasn't until I was finally laid off that I got my butt in gear and started job hunting.
Job hunting is totally like climbing Mount Everest. But it's not impossible. It just takes a little organization and a couple of dedicated hours every day. PM me if you want to talk more about that...

I worked at a law firm and hated it. Stayed there 8 years before I got fired. I was unemployed for 6 months and the first few weeks I actually enjoyed the "vacation" and just not having to deal with the job any more. I wanted to believe that this was my chance to get a job doing something I actually wanted. But I couldn't find anything I wanted and ended up getting another job in another shitty law firm the same day my unemployment ran out.
I've been here for a year and really want to leave but don't know where to go or how to get out. I have zero motivation and and depressed and if I could stay in bed all day I would. Some days I just want to sit and stare into space. I don't have the energy to want to interact with the world and put on a mask.
I feel trapped by my grief and depression.
Trying to job search with a job is horrible. For your situation take advantage of your part time status. job search and schedule interviews on your days off. It's easier to do that than trying to job search working a full time job like me. You can only call off or use so many vacation days. It's easier to quit and job search than search with a job. It's darn near impossible.
