Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
You're going to have to work with the material that you've got.
A couple of thoughts/ideas that might not apply to you though,
1. If you have felt left out by your family (like I have) you may give off vibes. Because god loves this kind of joke, the fact that you have been hurt makes you give off vibes that make others want to 'teach you a lesson.' I have had family members 'teach me lessons' in the darkest moments of my life and the lessons I have learned are that they're all self-obsessed assholes, but so long as I don't need a single thing from them, they're okay. My brother is the exception to this: he gave me money when I was poor. Now, that's help. No other help have I ever got from my wordy, self satisfied female relatives.
Invite siblings out. Develop your relationship with the brother and the other sister. One day you might manage to graduate to being friends with Elizabeth. :D Don't ask for much from the relationships, just hang out. A movie. Rollerblading. tenpin bowling. Stuff. Activities. Or dinners if they have that kind of talky talky nature. But going out is more fun.
2. This might help with hubby. I think you're a bit landlocked. Hubby's also only got so much inside him. You think you need things from him, but you aren't going to get them. You didn't marry a talker, clearly. Find what is good in him and value that, and get your talking from your other friends.
It's no good going into a marriage with expectations because God (that sense of humour again) will take a few years knocking them out of you. You don't even know what it takes for a successful marriage, because a successful marriage requires internal change from you that you haven't had time to make yet. You and hubby both need to grow, and neither of you starts out with the recipe for success. So take what you've got. Is it good enough for you? If yes, make your peace with it. If not, walk. But you can't change him, he is what he is, he will grow in his own way over time.
this is a lesson in zen. Zen self-abnegation and acceptance. When you master it nobody can break you ever again. Which is probably why it's a thing.
:D
