Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
It doesn't sound like it was a bad idea to go on that retreat. It sounds like it was amazing! This sounds stupid, but sometimes reality is hard to come back to, especially after such a relaxing and renewing experience. And let's face it, 3 days isn't that long, your mind probably would have liked to stay there for much longer, so not being ready to come back to reality can make for a rough transition as well.
Since the experience in so fresh in your mind, can you create a small space in your home that you can make like that retreat? Just a space big enough for you to sit in, maybe on a blanket or cushion, with just a few objects that are significant to you or significant from this experience (a candle? a small radio to play music?) If you can do that maybe it's a place you can go for an hour or so each day...? It's just a thought, idk how well it may or may not work for you.
I'm glad you went. I think it did a world of good for your body to relax and enjoy life, even for 3 days. What you may want to do now, is to take what you learned at the retreat, and put it in your life where you are. Try to stay away from the anger, the toxic people, and all the negativity that seems to surround you. You can't change the behavior of others, but you can change yours. And just because others have a bad attitude, doesn't mean you have to follow suit. Our homes are our safe havens and I'm sure if you work on it, you can make it the place that makes you love to come home to, just as the retreat did for you. Don't let the hostility of others, make you moody and angry. It's going to make every situation in your life, worse. Trust me, I know, I have been there. I hope you are able to turn your negative thoughts around to positive ones. Hugs GB
it doesn't have anything to do with the wonderful experience that you needed and enjoyed.
The more space we have around us, the less people, the less to deal with their animals and their messes - you actually aren't supposed to have deal with that, but it's one of many things that some people can't be counted on to take care of that's t-h-e-I-r responsibility.
When life becomes hard for us, even little things that we could normally ignore, are more annoying.
Sending you good thoughts and hope you can find peace soon.
At home I try to create a good environment. I am alone and isolated so it's not difficult for me to stay away from toxic people since there's actually no people at all.
I've never been so isolated and alone in my life. I've had good friends or at least one person around I can talk to, but my friends are far, I am coming out of a failed relationship, and I just got unemployed. The unemployed part is not horrendous since it was a toxic environment for me, but at least i had something to do...
Anyway, I know I will come out of this nonsense. I have in the past, and I am a fighter. One way or another I always figure something out.
Thank you so very much for your kind words and support.
