Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

This whole weekend, and this week, my son's last week at home before starting college, has been very anxious for me...not necessarily because he's leaving but because we don't have the financial resources to pay for rent, books and supplies.
The following is an email I sent to a Christian radio station asking for prayer:
My son is a rising freshman at UTSA. He is supposed be moving into his housing this coming weekend. Unfortunately, I was denied a ParentPLUS loan because of my credit; and now we don't have the money to pay for his books/supplies and his rent ($725). His father and stepmother were recently victims of some sort of identity theft and don't have the money to help out either. I am in a recovery program and just last week I surrendered control and trust of everything in my life to GOD. I have faith and a strong belief in God. I know we serve an awesome GOD; but I don't know what to do in this situation that I feel I got us into due to my procrastination. I really need HELP in the form of a financial miracle. I am currently unable to listen to your program because I am going to see my 93 year old mother to see if she can help us out (isn't that sad on my part? I've messed things up so bad that I have to go to my mother for financial help!) but PLEASE, PLEASE pray for my son and I's situation. Please pray that God will give me some sort of financial miracle. PLEASE! Thank you
And this is my prayer journal for today:
Our Father who art in heaven...Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory. Forever and ever amen.
OH Father God of second chances and new beginnings...
Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!... Thank you for this day and thank You for all the many blessings you give us each and every day.
Thank You for my family...Thank You for my husband...Thank You for bringing him into our lives to teach me how to love others the way You love us unconditionally.
Thank you for my son...Thank You for continually blessing me through him...Thank You for revealing Yourself to me through him...Thank You for giving me the strength and wisdom necessary to raise him into the God-loving and God-fearing young man he has become and is continuing to grow into.
Thank You God...Thank You for my Mother...other than You, she is the only person who has never abandoned me or forsaken me...Thank You for blessing her with so many years of life filled with so much grace, strength and wisdom...Thank You for blessing me with a mother who has always been an shining example and model of a God-loving, God-fearing, Christian virtuous Proverbs 31 woman. Thank You!
Heavenly Father...help me, Help me, HELP me!...Help me, Heavenly Father to be the child you want me to be...Help me and give me the strength and wisdom to do what ever it is you want me do...and to always make the right decisions.
And help me God, to let go and let You work in all areas of my life... Help me God to give you full control over my life and to wholly trust in you....in all areas of my life.
Help me God to trust and obey you with my HEALTH...help me God to trust and obey you with my CAREER...help me God to trust and obey you with my FINANCES...help me God to trust and obey you with my FAMILY.
Heavenly Father, I come to you humbly now and ask that you help me attain and maintain financial, transportation, and career security according to YOUR will, dear God not mine.
Help me GOD...enable me to ask for and receive the help needed and the financial means to get my son off to college...Please dear God...you promise us in your Word to give us the desires of our heart...well right now...the desire of my heart is for my son that you blessed me with to experience the joy and reward of the college experience dear God...but I have failed...I have failed to secure financial stability because I have failed to obey you...I realize that now...but please dear God...please don't allow my son to pay the price for my mistakes...please dear Heavenly Father bless him with the opportunities and greater blessings than you have blessed me with...Please Dear God...help me, Help me, HELP me!
GOD, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change...the courage to change the things I can...and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment in time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life ans supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen
Well these are my thoughts today and will be my thoughts for the next few days...that is why I decided to go ahead and share them here.
I must remind myself...that I CAN do all things through Christ who strengthens me...and... that GOD takes the impossible, makes it harder, and then gets it done!
Well? ...that's all...and thank you for reading this long rambling post.

they feel that they are "entitled to live away and experience this.
i admit i couldn't read your entire prayer. but know that you're not alone in the financial strains of raising children and wanting the best for them. i bet he will make you proud though.
My sister didn't take her education very seriously. I sure as Hell did.
Bottom line for me... I appreciated school more because I worked hard for it.
